Salzburg & Hallstatt, Austria

Wow. How to even being writing about Austria. I think there could be a whole book written on this trip. I'll just start by saying, Salzburg and Hallstatt are two of the most beautiful places on Earth. Not only is it physically beautiful, but the people were some of the kindest people I've ever met. Despite being there in the 17 degree winter weather, it felt like one of the warmest places I've experienced because of the people we crossed paths with. We spent our days on this first trip exploring as much as we could. In Salzburg we went to the Fortress Hohensalzburg which is the stunning castle with the most magnificent views of the entire city. That morning we also found a cafe right near our AirBnB with some of the best waffles in the world!!- Something we hadn't eaten in a long time. Another day we booked The Sound of Music Tour with Bob's Special Tours. This was one of the coolest parts of our trip. Just us, our guide, and 5 others piled into a little yellow van and began the drive to many different spots where the Sound Of Music was filmed. The second half of the day was spent in Hallstatt, a tiny little town sitting on the lake. These views were easily some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. I enjoyed getting to experience the snow, since I've seen snow very few times in my life. For the last bit of time back in Salzburg we visited some of the pretty churches and more of the city. I could write on and on about this trip- but I'll leave it at this: We decided that we will 100% return to Austria again, hopefully someday soon, and maybe in the Spring or Summer to experience them in a different way. If you ever get the chance to go, I recommend taking the opportunity. I promise Austria will not disappoint.
